Mona's Bio:
As Mo Music director and teacher, Mona has been teaching
Music Together and Kids Sing to infants through 11 years of
age for the past 8 years.
Mona has a B.A. in Vocal Performance and a teaching
credential from California State University, East Bay, and has
completed advanced Kodaly studies at Holy Names College.
She has been singing professionally as an ensemble
member as well as a solo artist for 20 years in jazz combos,
big bands, and choral groups.
Before founding Mo Music in 2002, Mona taught choir for 7
years at San Mateo's Bayside Middle School for the Arts and
has taught private voice to children and adults since 1990.
Mona lives in Redwood City with her professional drummer
husband, Jeff, and their two children Madison (11 years) and
Ben (9 years).
Teaching Philosophy:
Mona believes in a creating long-term relationship with
students where they can feel supported and comfortable
exploring their voice.
The lesson is divided into 3 parts:
• Vocal Warm-ups where students are guided to use proper
vocal technique
• Music Theory where students are exposed to notation and
ear-training
• Vocal Repertoire where students work on refining pieces of
music from a variety of styles.
