We invite children ages 7 to 10 to join our new “Kids Sing Choir”!
environment, Mona Dena, Director of Mo Music, will lead 10-20 singers in learning the craft of choral singing.
students will learn/practice vocal technique that supports a healthy and effective singing voice. They will become versed in breathing, vowel and consonant resonation/articulation, and expression, all the while gaining exposure to music of various styles. With the goals of growing vocal quality and musicianship, children will be introduced to music notation, sight-reading, ear training, dictation and musical games. Parents will be invited to attend our performance of the last day of class, giving the children opportunity to share what they have learned. Mona has a B.A. in Vocal Performance and holds a teaching credential from California State University, Hayward. She has completed advanced Kodaly studies at Holy Names College (Oakland, CA), and has been singing professionally for 20 years in choirs, jazz combos and Big Bands. She taught choir for 7 years at San Mateo’s Bayside Middle School for the Arts, and was Music and Choir director at St. Peter’s church in Redwood City for several years. With the introduction of our “Kids Sing Choir,” she is thrilled to come back to the role of choral director.
